This guitar was recently put up on Ebay. Starting price $25,000
http://cgi.ebay.com/Jerry-Garcia-Vintag ... dZViewItem

The poster is basically trying to claim that Garcia owned the guitar. Ther aren't any pix of him playing any guitar like this. Also in all of the things I've read about Garcia's guitars he used 2 early alembics.
He had what was probably the first alembic guitar, the one that had a weird round shae to it and a big brass pickguard/electronics cover.
And the bought Irwin's first guitar, wolf jr.

It is the 10th alembic made. He has a quote on the from "the guitar maker" no name who says he is leaning towards it being one of Garcia's guitars.
than the guy lists the prices that wolf, tiger and his bean's got at auction.

To me this just looks like an early alembic. I dont see anythng that mae me think that garcia owned this guitar but I don't really know.

What do you guys think?

Garcia had a LOT of guitars, MOST of which he never performed with, and many of which he gave away to friends.

By a twist of fate, I breifly had one of his Travis Beans, a TB-1000A, which I was holding for a friend. I restrung it lefty and played it for about 2 months... SWEET guitar. Later, my friend removed the neck and it was found to have written on it in black marker underneath, "Jerry Garcia 7/10/79"! It may have been a factory note. afaik he never performed on it, but the thought that he might have screwed around with it a little bit is kinda nice.
