Gotta wonder about those axes. I mean, alot  of these Gibson solidbodies have colors and laquors that I doubt Gibson has ever used. I actually think that the pickup hardware is not in standard with Gibson's by the look of it. Gotta wonder about those axes.

If you have a problem with the axe when you receive it, then what? 2 cents, you're better off finding a decent workhorse barebones ax in a store or thru a Craiglist ad for around $199 that you can at least hold in your hands before you lay out the $.

Now im guessin the most expensive is gonna put out the best tone overall? but is it gonna be that much of a difference for the extra money put in?

The SG has such a wide fretboard IMHO and that has some advantages depending on how much bending is in your style of playing. Not the greatest choice for rhythm, but I've sure seen alot of 'em played by Lead players....in that schene?.. the SG rocks.

There are a variety of SG neck shapes. Check out Jerry's 1968 SG Standard that he played in 68 thru mid 69, compared to the wide flat neck on the 1961 or 62 "Les Paul-SG" he was playing for most of 1970.

A good cheap guitar that I recently picked up was a Squire Deluxe Strat. It has an Alser body and a quilted maple top with a pearl pickguard. I couldn't believe how nice it was for a squire. My only issue is that it buzzes but that can be fixed. I plan on getting a nicer neck for it later and maybe some new tuners.

Yo Blob - I have an SG faded and love the tone I get out of it, my favorite guitar I've ever owned, thus far (though I hope that'll change when the 'Doc rep gets here). I think I paid around $700 for mine, so it's not too bad price-wise. A real workhorse, durable, and I've never had a problem with it. I even still have the stock pups in it; thought about changing them out, but I like them too much. I think you'd be very happy with it. I'm sure you'd be pretty stoked w/ that Gibson special too, but since I've never played one, I'm not sure if it's worth double the money or not, guess you'll have to figure that one out. That swamp ash one looks pretty sweet, too! What a beauty! Real sharp lookin' if you ask me. If I had the money at the time and had seen that next to my faded, I might have gone that direction. But play all 3 and make a decision that way - it's gotta feel right in your hands.

Eh but really why not just put all that money toward a better guitar? I dont know where I heard this but your setup is only as good as your weakest link. So even if you have great pups and pots and all that you still have a piece of crap lol.
