I've never seen this published but I kind of feel, after listening as best I can with numerous versions, that the changes may be A--C-B-Em instead of A--G-F#m-Em. Also B7 sounds better that plain ole B. Any thoughts on this one?

Your changes sounded right to me when I tried solo. Just got around to trying it along with ACE. It's right on. I'll change the tab. Thanks.

I hear:

It's A>C>B>Em...

The way Garcia and Lesh walk it down is by playing the B note(the third of G) which is often where the confusion comes in. You can watch a good close up of Weir strumming it on the 81 Essen, Germany Video.... Weir plays the full B chord at the 7h fret.

Couple of things - first 2 times through I play B after the C - B7 would work as well - next 2 times after the G I play B7 - I don't think it's Bm7 for either part -at least from the JG part perspective. I also don't play the Em in the chorus. I suppose Bobby could be playing these forms.

You can see Bobby strumming the Em quickly at about 2:05 of the Rockpalast video on you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P0_KuDjrdU

Don't know if that means they always did it that way or not.

Man, going from the A chord to a C chord in this song just sounds totally wrong to my ear.

Not to change this topic because its a good one, but are Jerry spekers "rear mounted" in the Essen show?

Peace,

It did for me, too, but I can't argue with Bobby in the video. (B7 sounds better to me than B, though.)
