Recommend Luthier for Carvin Mods-Boston!

I finally have mustered the courage to send my Carvin out to have Tiger mods done. I love this guitar so I have delayed doing this. Is there anyone who can recommend a trusted Luthier near Massachusetts who has experience/knowledge doing this?

The guitar is a HSH and needs the middle pickup routed for a Humbucker & battery access/route for coil switches/do the wiring - add the buffer and replace the pickups. Not sure if I trust that my local guy can do a great job. Help?

Mouradian guitars in Winchester - talk to Jim Mouradian. He has done a number of Garcia type mods - he's worked on my Resurrection and recently modded my PRS with OBEL and super 2's. He routed out my PRS for a middle pickup and had a pickup ring made. He still has the CAD files for the pickup ring so he'll be able to have another one made from it.

How do you like the PRS mod? I thought a PRS would be too tight a fit for a middle humbucker.

I love the PRS - it's custom 24. There was just enough room to squeeze in a middle pickup. It works out great. I also just put in Waldo's buffer and I've really been digging on that - together it sounds really great. I still have a couple of things to get finished up on it but it's really a pleasure to play.

Spoke to Jim today. All set to bring it in. I thinking about putting in Dual Sounds. What type of control setup did you do on the PRS? Is it Tiger type wiring but with an added split coil humbucker in the neck?

Yep - with a 5 way rotary switch and ganged concentric pots for the tone

Jim Mouradian gave the specs to a machine shop that he uses. They created a CAD file for it - so it's easy to now pop out more at the drop of a hat! I still have an aluminum prototype on mine - I need to get it back in for the brass one to be put on and a couple of other fixes.

Hmmm! This is sounding like a solution to the custom bridge that I'll need built for my EB0/3/whatever.

I second the recommendation of Jim. He did the initial mods on my Starfire, including the routing for the second pickup (it started life as a SF I). He also did fretwork on my strat and a bunch of other stuff. He was skeptical of the Starfire mods until he heard them (and after I gave him a recording of my band he became more convinced that I knew what I was doing). I also thought it was cool that he had a Fender PS400 lying around the shop!
