Jerry using an Mc2100??

Someone on Gearheads linked this great video. When I was watching it I noticed that Jerry appeared to be using a smaller Mac, perhaps an Mc2100. Looks like the Boogie as a pre and maybe that 4-band Hard Truckers JFET EQ was integrated as well. Hard to tell, but the 4-knob box is sitting on top of the Boogie. I thought people here would get a kick out of seeing one of the smaller "sideways" Mac's.

IMHO: That's the Octave Divider. Also the Mu-Tron III for the minutes leading up. Waldo and I have been debating this off the board...

Well, he's got 2 Boogies (one on top of each other), 2 speaker cabs, and 2 power amps (MC3500? under the Boogies and MC2100? on the speaker cab).

One of the Boogies I presume is a backup. I only see one thing I can recognize as a power amp (under the bottom Boogie). But that clarifies for me that Brad and I were looking at different things.

Try to look at that thing sitting on the speaker cab. There are some shots on the video at 2:33 and starting 3:03 (clearest about 3:22). It looks like some kind of "sideways" McIntosh. Not sure which one though. The lettering doesn't really look like the "2100".

what i gather from those clearer video shots is that the cans do not sit in the middle of the heatsinks like the mc2100 does. you can also see the transistors so it looks like a Mc100 to me.


also, the picture Tigerstrat posted is June 1, 1973. same stage, same day as the keith side shot in the GD gear book page 176. also same shots as ed perlsteins who dates them as June 1st. however, there are no recordings for june 1st, so it quite possibly could be May 28, 29 or 30.

a note of interest from this june 1 photo and the july 12 video is the 4 knob (EQ) box. in the june 1 keith shot it sits facing him on his keyboard, and by july it is sitting on top of jerrys boogies.

as for the effects, i think i am in the TS camp that they are the mu3 and mu octdiv.

Someone was selling an MC100 in Texas for around $300 but someone else beat me to it.

I must say that the MC50 is sounding really good espcially running it 4 ohms into a 4 ohm 2x12 cab.

Try: BP Mode/Low/Down/Peak 2-3, and I think that about nails it. Very cool to hear him using this on Eyes. In fact this envelope setting is so subtle, with careful listening it may turn up in a lot more places in 1976 that might be considered "odd" to hear a Mutron. Maybe he kept it at this tamer setting in the name of Stability, before the OBEL opened the doors to more radical sounds.

That would have been a score and a half. I have yet to find one. $300 is a steal.


As for Jerry's tone, sounds logical, you can hear a hint of the mutron.

The change of clothes is probably because the video is from soundcheck and the shot is from the show.

Can you point out this supposed Mutron use?? Where/when is that sound you're debating?
