Where to buy compenents for Jerrycaster

Where to buy compenents for Jerrycaster

Postby USBLUES » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:43 am

I looking into getting all the parts listed on Waldo's Rosebud diagram and was wondering a good place to get the coil tap and 5 way switches, the pots and capacitors and wire etc etc, and i already have the PUPS.
Is this a good place. Specifically the 5 way switcher doesn't look like the one in the diagram. The price is right on this stuff but is the quality going to suffer and if so where should i buy from to be certain?

I haven't ever ordered from GuitarFetish, but a lot of that stuff looks like cheap import parts, especially that 5-way. I get a lot of my stuff from AllParts since I get a lot of everything when I do...StewMac is a perfect place to get good quality stuff when you're only doing one guitar. They're not the cheapest, but for the most part, all their components are very good...and then you'll get their catalog and become addicted to all the fun things and tools you can get for you guitar!

Prob not as the 'Alligator' was a modified guitar.
As for "not a long time player of Fender ...."

I have never seen this strat before. I love the walnut body? Interesting fret markers...That jacket is off the charts too!

Those were Nudie brand suits. Check out the show and hear the guitar:

And Nudie with Alligator:

(some folks say the Nudie's were a 1 time appearance, I say no)

Good memory Waldo, Dan Erlwine is the maker of the strat. Pretty famous guitar maker/repair/setup pioneer

Way to come full circle, too, to the original post...Dan Erlewine is the main dude at Stew Mac.

I love when a post gets a life of its own........

I have some questions about the POTS, were long shafted Pots used on Tiger and Rosey or regular height?

Looking at the title of this post i think i should be looking for a spell checker instead of Guitar gear

+1 on StewMac

Not sure about long vs regular shaft without knowing what kind of guitar you're wiring up.

I bought the 5-way from StewMac (Switchcraft?). The lugs on the one I used were different than on the switch Waldo used, so I had to wire it a little different.

StewMac didn't have the tone pots needed.

And if I am not mistaken Dan Erlwine does a lot of "how to" demos for stewmac.

Here is a pic of the patient: She already has three 3way switches which two(the black ones) of can be used for coil taps, which they are already intended for anyway(and since they are 3way could use them to choose which coil too), and then the one top left can be used for the OBEL on off. There are four existing pots. I want to change all of them out becuase of their age anyway so two 500k's for the tone, and one 25k for volume, the 4th i can leave if I ever want to add the midi controller way down the line if ever or i could use that spot for the 5-way switch.

Will these pots work?
500k for tone http://www.allparts.com/CTS-500K-Linear ... 86-000.htm

25k for volume http://www.allparts.com/25k-Mini-Pot-p/ep-0245-000.htm
On Waldo Diagram it says 25k LOG, not sure what the LOG stands for.

Looks like a sterio jack is used like this part #4653? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... _Jack.html

Caps part# 1291? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... rs%29.html

5way switch? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... witch.html
