Wolf Inspired Project

I finally got some serious time to spend, and got a good start on a Wolf inspired neck-thru design... Here are some pics of the body blank and neck. The plan includes the basic Wolf electronics, using one of Waldo's UGBs, if he still makes them and homemade pups. I just scored a used-yet-unused Mini-Milling machine to make the bridge and tailpiece I may include another onboard Tube Screamer too, I like the one I'm using quite a bit...

Center is Jatoba (Brazilian Cherry), Walnut 1/14"(2@1/28th"), Quilted Maple, Walnut 1/28", American Cherry, Walnut 1/28", and Quilted Maple front and back.

Yeah, it's a totally cool piece of wood (top) isn't it... you gotta love it.

TJ, I'm gonna have 3 on each side tuners... I didn't include a photo of the peg head yet, because I'm still working on the design... I want it to be something new As soon as it's decided, I'll post another pic.

But Wolf used a Stratoblaster, not a UGB, right Waldo?

correct ts. and in 2 different configurations. either way i have him covered whether it is a blaster clone or a tiger preamp.

Thanks Waldo, and TS, I'm afraid I get a little sloppy when refering to different editions of electronics

I've been making my own Stratoblasters, and I like the Waldo mods (tho on the next one I'll use an inverse curve for the control pot). I've got one in my backup Strat clone. But I really like the detail I get with Waldo's UGB... Combined with the onboard TubeScreamer it gets close to the best of both worlds (with an extra kick at the higher distortion end). I still need to do some mods to the Tube Screamer... it needs a bit more "clean" area on the amount of distortion control, and it's considerably louder than the UGB alone, so I have to adjust the volume pot whenever I switch the TS on or off

Anyway, I also have a CB2 from CAE, I may try that one first, just to compare, but I'm sold on Waldo's "secret recipe"

I guess the bottom line for me is: no Garcia guitar "clones" for me... rather "inspired" editions and variations on a theme!

Just sent Doug at Soulmate an email about a neck. Looks like I'm in business, this project will be moving forward sooner than I thought. Which is nice.

Well I finally, after a mere 15 month hiatus, have gotten back to working on this one! Here's a pic of a cutout, just oiled, and dryed, so it doesn't have the depth it will, but it will give an idea.



I'll put some of the roughed body etc... in a bit... just wanted to show some movement!
