Ok so im embarking on a long voyage...

Im completly ReBuilding my Gretsch Pro Jet.
Her name is Lucy

Anywho...
Shes gonna have
-two filter trons
-Phase Switch
-OBEL
-Waldo Buffer
-Kill Switch
-Master Vol. Post OBEL, Each Pick Up has individual volume knobs
- Two Switchable Tone Caps PLUS A Tone Knob Pre OBEL
-Completly Sheilded
-Brass Wilkinson Bridge [Chrome Plated]
-Ibanez Musician Bridge [Chrome Plated]
-A RoseBud Type Cover on the front for the buffer
-Routed out a bigger control plate on the back
-RePainted
-A Banjo Armrest. This looks really cool on a Gretsch

Rough Shape I Know...


Routed Out The Bigger Control Plate. I still have to sand the edges ans route out the groove.

Not that anyone cares but heres the progress I have made


I finished the back plate, Made a new plastic cover


Sanded down the front,fixed all the nicks and scratches.
Paint coming soon.



Heres a mock up of what Lucy's gonna look like when shes done.
I still have to work on the pickup surrounds to make them fir my pickups.


Its pretty apparent that the stock bridge wasn't cutting it. Look at the difference in the post.
I replaced all the hardware besides the knobs with chrome plated brass. The bridge is from an Ibanez Musician.

Well hopefully she will be done in a month. I am still waiting for my Waldo Buffer so my electronics teacher and I can get started wirin' er' up

Thanks, Im still waiting for my buffer and paint.
But I was wondering about the binding, When I paint her up should I just use pinstripping tape to tape off the binding or what?
So far there hasn't been any real screw ups [knock on wood] so Im real looking forward to her being done.

Bad news guysss....

I snapped off a freaking screw in my tail piece and I haven't painted her yet... how do I get it out?
I guess I should order the real screws instead of cheap Home Depot screws! haha

Try a screw extractor. U should probably be able to get one for a couple dollars at your hardware store. They have always worked for me.

My other hobby is working on Jeeps, so I've seen my share of broken fasteners. The technique for getting it out depends on the size, how much is sticking out, and what it's stuck in. Can we see a pic?

Sucks. Solution is likely a pair of vice grips if you can see the sides or a an ez-out if you cannot.

So I got a 1974 Bus ( Bertha the Majic CanniBus) and have lost focus on this project but its cold now so I thought I would start on Lucy again. I am getting her wired by a professional, I keep on screwing something up for some reason

But I have her painted black with silver sparkly things I have put 5 coats of color on and so far 2 coats of clear. I am using acrylic lacquer spray cans. I am actulyy pretty suprised how it is turning out! It does have a really long crack that i filled with super glue but you can still see it, its not going to be that notuicble with the pickgaurd and knobs and stuff...I hope



IMO Pictures dont realyl do it justice.

Anyways whatchaa guys think?
