SS......I cant comment on the stock nut slots because I yanked it and put a brass nut on it right away........however I did look at the nut and it appeared to be more than decent...........

Quite a bit of time spent with the "new" Strat this weekend. I'm really pleased. The tone is vastly improved over a stock Strat...those pickups are a real key to Garcia's tone. I now know what Vic meant when he was saying his Strat was a little thin. The tone has come a long way but it just doesn't compare to my Michas. I've got a brass nut on that guitar but I don't think enough can be said about a well built body with good wood. Slight intonation trouble but not much. That was probably more attributable to monkeying around with the bridge than putting on the new neck. The neck is a beaut...but I should have opted for 24 frets...who knows...if anyone wanted to buy this one from me I might make the upgrade. Overall...very pleased.

I really like the look of those 3 'buckers in that Strat.
The guy from the band The Maykers (JGB trib) had a similar looking axe.
