I have been listening to the Hartford Phish show and Trey sounds awesome!!!! Is he still using the preamp? If so it has really made his sound really great, Trey still sounds the same but just way clearer and fuller, if that makes any sense. Great job on that.

To be honest, I don't see the SMS Classic in his rack for this recent leg of the tour. It was there for St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Deer Creek, and Alpine Valley. It appears that he's now using the second Boogie as both pre and power into the Bruno 4-12 cab loaded with Celestion Alnico Blues.

Yea, I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news but he left the SMS at home for the second leg of the tour. I talked for a while with Brian Brown before the 8/1 show and that was the first thing I asked him, because I didn't see it in the rack. Brad told me that they where back to the Mesa's which are practically stock. Further, he said that the Bruno was just there to as a place to put the Mesa and Trey was going through the old "doghouse" home built cab that he has had since forever. That really bummed me out for obvious reasons.

The SMS seems like it would go much better with Trey-Band and that side of his style; Mesa Mark are THE sound of his Phish style, where overdrive from the amp is fairly omnipresent, not to mention kicking in the Lead channel for truly gonzo OD.

Well now I know what my 2x12 cab would look like with speaker grills.
I gotta figure a way to gig with my cab yet protect the speakers yet not have speaker grills. Hmmm.

...and what's that on top of the cabinet behind the second Mesa? Looks like a baggie stuffed with a white powdery substance on each end, and that little round metal thing in the middle, a mirror or stash box?
