Was this tune usually done in the key of A by JGB and GD?

was there another key ever used? (I believe the original was in C?)

You are indeed correct. I'm not sure about the original version but the Dead and JGB played it in A major.

and I use A mixolydian for it. So wouldnt that really make it D major just like the original?
