mxr phase???? script non script? LED? non LED?

hi.,.. go in to get an MXR phase so i don't have to keep using the modeled one on podxt ( birthday ) and their are , like 4 choices at the same price
blcok lettering
script lettering
and script lettering with an LED light.. and this is, of course, backordered..

the commissioned salesperson tells me they are all the same but that is how i ended up having to return a boss envelope synth for an electro harmonix env.
so my question to the crowd???
what IS the difference?
I bought the script without the LED which i can ship back after the script with LED gets in..
some say they are the same, some say the one with the script is better..
thoughts??????

i know jerry used the old 100 but they say the 90 script logo "custom shop" is the way to go
do you agree? am i right to get the 90 over the 100?

Well, I got a new phase 100 recently and hated it. I just could not get the thing to sound real good - it was just kinda thin. I don't know, maybe it was just the onne that I got.

So, I went with a phase 90. I had heard about an easy mod that makes it equivalent to the script model. I did the mod and LOVE the sound of it. It's that rich lush watery phase sound that I was looking for. Just beatiful - with no clipping like it originally had.

Here's a site with some simple and not so simple instructions. It starts off with instructions for the R28 mod (which is only a matter of clipping off a resistor) and also the C11 and C12 mod - which are capacitors that can be clipped off.

Further down the page they expand on that mod with other mods - like a switch to go between the original config and the modded config and a couple of other things. But the first paragraph is all you need to know to turn it into a "script" model.

Maxon PH350 is the only way to go for a phaser, IMO.

i put it after the 0c-3 but before the ts-9... it sounds a bit weak in there.. does it work out better after the tube screamer? i tried it but wasn't sure.. tom
