when you are strumming the e a and the a d, strum patterns?

hi this might sound dumb but i am newish on guitar i can get a lot of this song, really and really like the notes above, but what i am not sure i have right is i guess what you would call the sturm pattern when playing those e / a parts and the a and d parts ... i have fiddled with it but am guessing it might be easier if i just asked...

Well Tom, I just looked at the tab and it's just as it says: hang on the E until the verse is sung, then it's a quick "bum bum" on the next 2 chords. I'd imagine if you throw in a show and just sit there for a minute or 7 listening and practicing, you'll get it. Good luck.

i was using the album version but i got some great 70s shows that i bet show just that...
