Yeah, I think the "stash box" rumors have been spun so many times that they have taken on a life of their own.

Buuuuut- if the wings are really "chambered", well that open up all sorts of possibilities. 8)

It wouldn't have to be very big unless pot was being stashed; I kinda doubt that was the cargo.

I too have a believed Irwin guitar from my father. He had it custom made while living in Sonoma County. I was hoping to find out some key aspects of Irwin's work to see if I could in fact prove this was made by the man my father claimed.
I am working on getting some pictures together to share. I would also like to find out about appraisal and verification of Irwin's work.
Thanks.

You should contact Thomas Lieber at lieberguitars.com

Tom was Doug Irwin's apprentice and could easily authenticate his work. He also has direct access to Doug.

We have only seen maybe a dozen authentic Irwin's on this board including Garcia's and we would be very interested
in details, pictures and the outcome of your research.

Please keep us updated.

thanks,
Bill

As many have apparently stated, I believe I may be in possession of an authentic Irwin. Is this forum still somewhat frequented? If so, and anyone out there is interested, I would be more than happy to post some pictures..

Thanks!

And Hello to everyone! I am very new to this forum.

I got 17 pics, I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by posting that many, I just needed that many to show the intricacies of this guitar..

Thank you for the comments. As for being a player, yes on occasion I'm known to play, but not really with this piece. I'm hoping to find out as much as I can about this item, and thought this forum would be a good start. What would be the best way to contact Mr. Lieber? His website?

If I'm not mistaken, I think I saw pictures of this guitar on the Alembic site several yeras ago. I don't remember what it was said to have been, though I'm fairly certain that it wasn't an Irwin guitar.
