I see I'm not the only one with an SMS and a FYD!

Not anymore Jon. I never would've known about the FYD if I didn't see yours. Your post cost me $900. :) I love it though. Very nice sounding, well built pre and Dan is a really cool guy.

czyfingers, what are you running out of the stuff in your rack? I'm curious because I see a HK blues master, an SMS and the Fyd, which would seem to me to fill the same preamp role in a mac-112 cab setup. Are two or more of those in the signal chain, or is one or more a backup?

I knew that was coming. :) I know its overkill. I just like to try everything and have a few choices. I had room in the rack, so I put them all in there. They're all similar, but a little bit different.

Wow, quite a rack. Looks nice. Do you play out with that?

Also curious who built your Wolf?

Nice! What are the two pedals in the back, behind the Mu-3, and what looks like a Keeley-modded tubescreamer?

...I'm gonna build an HT style 2x12 cab in the next few months, and I'm still messing with pedals (as usual!). The clarity and punch of this rig is awesome...very inspiring!

Looks very similar to the Rack I reverse engineered the spec's for and had Tracy over at SSP build for me for a friends project I did a couple years back. I custom modded a GCX Audio Switcher just for the project.

Hey Waldo I know this is an old post but I'm curious, what mods did you do to the GCX switcher?

That's a sweet freakin rack you made there, badass, I'm sure your friend is totally stoke on it. You said you built it a few years back, is he still using it today?

Yes, he still uses it!

The goal for this GCX was to make it function only like Cutlers version. All effects are hardwired inline. I used a color coded snake cable for the effects send and returns which went to 2 custom extension back panels that sit in the back of each shelf. This is where the effects plug in for an easier pedal swaps. I also powered each back panel with it's own wall wart so each effects spot has a 9v spigot. There is also a 4 spot 120v power strip for each shelf as well. I removed the faceplate and replaced it with one that would look similar to Cutlers as well, with a stereo input hardwired internally, buffer bypassed.

You guys must all be married (and/or have a maid service) bc your music areas are clean..or more precisely, neat! And folks used to call me anal rententive.
