I don't believe there's an E note in this song. It should be an A
The bottom line is what I think is correct, Agree?

F#m E D7 Ao
And even more to lose,
F#m A D Ddim

F#m E D7 Ao
Watch each card you play and play it slow,
F#m A D Ddim

No, A diminished is correct.

It goes from D7 to D7b9. You are just raising the root (D) to Eb, which makes it an Eb diminished chord.

Eb diminished is the same as Gb dim, A dim and C dim.

I was really referring to the F#m to A not F#m to E

MK Weir would play something like this with a blues beat. I'm sure you can mix it up and play it many ways
Code: Select all
F#m   A     D      D#dim
|------------------------------
|-------------------------------
|----------------------------------
|------------7-7-9--7-9-------
|4-6--7-9----5-5-5--6-6-------
|2-2--5-5---------------------

I think that was Fire on the Mountain, in which case it is there in the chorus.

If you really want to learn deal, and of course you should, check out this lesson from Seth at Grateful Guitar Lessons:
http://www.gratefulguitarlessons.com/deal_jerry_garcia_guitar_lesson_video.htm

Well worth it, if you study this lesson, you will understand deal.
