That's definitely true, but if you don't want the hassle of having to install an OBEL, just do what I do. Insert a Keeley single looper (or another brand) in front of your effects, so you can go straight to the clean amp with one push of a button and put a volume pedal at the end of your signal chain. I also like this approach because it's all done with your foot. This way your picking isn't affected as you manipulate your signal path and/or volume.
