The Fender Deluxe 90 DSP is a solid state amp. It's got a pretty good sound for solid state, though. The clean channel is very clean and punchy. The drive channels are OK, but solid state overdrive never seems to sound as good. My previous rig was a Mesa Boogie Mk III through EVM-12S speakers. It sounded great, but it was killing me - 60 lbs for the head, and 80 lbs for the 2 X cabinet. The Fender Deluxe 90 (at 35 lbs total for 1X12 combo) gave me 80% of the tone at 20% of the weight.
My Deluxe 90 DSP got stolen, though.
I'm currently running a Traynor TS-50. The Traynor's solid state also, but a totally different sound, more like a Marshall.
