I have lost track of who currently owns this bass. Last I new it was owned by someone in Germany. I would like to see some pictures to evaluate its current condition. If anyone has any information, I would make it worth your while!
Best to all,
Thomas LIeber

Wow! Beautiful...it looks like Wolf's big bassy brother, I like how irwins basses have guitar counterparts, this is wolfish, and Phils Irwin bass has the Tiger horns.

Phil and Thomas,
Over on the Alembic club site, it was said that per Pete, this bass was destroyed in a fire/riot in Germany.
Try this link, there is a pic of Pete with this bass.

Here is an article describing the events in Germany.

http://www.gotarevolution.com/lorelei.htm
It all rolls into one and nothing comes for free
There's nothing you can hold for very long
And when you hear that song come crying like the wind
It seems like all this life was just a dream

I bought this bass in the years between 90 and 91 from a friend, he is a studio musician.
he told me that he bought this bass in the Netherlands. you must know we live near the national border to the Netherlands.
At this time i was a truck driver, single with low money and i also was an newbie in playing bass guitar. my friend was a pub owner and over a beer i told him to start playing bass. he ask me hey guy do you want to buy a relay cool bass guitar? i said yes of course, let me have a lock. i saw the bass and i was in love, but whats about the price? OK he needs money and i needs a bass, he told me the bass was from golden earring to make it easier for me to pay the money. so we agree upon 3 payments and the deal was perfect. i'll never believe the story with golden earring!. with up coming internet at the end of the 90ies i start to investigate the story of this bass, but it was a unsuccessful attempt because i was looking for a perter lears bass 2. so i given up the search. over the years i played the bass in different bands. i got children, was married and so on and the bass sleeps in his case. 2 weeks a go, in a pub where was a public rock session a friend, guitar player, ask me hey Klaus, are you interested in a band project as bass player and the bass was waked up. last sunday we met us for the first rehearse. the musicians ask me oh nice bass where comes it from, i said i don't know, last info from golden earring ;) this morning i was looking for some music to play around with on youtube and i found golden earring. i thought by my self, lets have a look at google to find information about the bass. and i found doug irwin and the site that is posted in this thread with relay nice bass guitars and a photo of my bass. i was amazed. after a while a found the grateful dead forum with this thread :)
