Rack mount effects pedals ideas

Started a discussion about mounting pedals. Anybody have any pics on how to set it up.
I have a 16 u rack furman>Tuner>SMS>MC2100>2x12 JBL's

The pedals are: MutronIII>TS>Boss OD>DD3 (currently in a pedal board. I want to mount them in the rack case
to consoilidate eveything. Do I get a 1u Drawer and velcro them? Has anybody tried this and had it work?

I am also wondering about mounting the MC2100 in the bottom of the rack case.

Any help would be appricated.

I have my pedals mounted vertically on a Moog rack plate for just that. Its $90 most places (which is stupid, i got mine used) but someone else on here found it somsewhere for less. It works great, but to save space a sliding shelf is just as good. Heres a scheme i made in paint for what cables go where for the GCX.

Is the GCX what you use to hook the pedals to? How do you then control them?

GO TOO VOODOO LABS WEBSITE AND LOOK AT THE GCX AND THE GROUND CONTROL. THEY HAVE A WORKSHEET ON THERE THAT SHOWS YOU VISUALLY WHAT THESE ITEMS DO AS FAR AS SWITCHING PEDALS, MIDI CHANNELS, AMP CHANNELS........ YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE MANUALS FOR BOTH ITEMS TO GET A BETTER UNDERSTANDING. Greg...

Is the GCX what you use to hook the pedals to? How do you then control them?

You put each pedal into one loop on the GCX and use the Ground Control Pro floor unit to activate the loops you want inserted into your signal path. The pedals themselves are always on, you just bypass the ones you are not using at the moment. Makes a huge difference in the quality of your signal compared to a traditional pedal board with all the effects chained together.

I have to agree with PD, the GCX really helps tame pedals and remove variables from the signal so you always get what you want from your effects. To enhance the system further, an effects loop in your guitar ala Jerry, you will have even more consistency. I never make adjustments to my effects during a show when my effects are set the way I like them. Sometimes during transport certain sensitive pedals shift and bump and need tweaked. Most of the time not. I use a rack like Jerry with shelves for my effects all plugged into a GCX. Then run one thin midi cord from the GCX to the ground control pedal At the foot of my mic stand. You can set the loops in the ground control to include multiple loops or just one. You can't swap the order of the loops though. So you set up the GCX in the order you would set up a regular pedal board so when you engage multiple loops it will sound it's best.ie: plug in your delays/modulation last and distortions/envelope first in the 8 chain of loops. Unlike a pedal board the signal never enters the bypassed pedals, so you can avoid tone sucking. You can hook up multiple pedals in a single loop too, I use a ge7 and a distortion pedal in one loop. It is a great system, but expensive for sure. Good luck!

That looks like a very cool system. $800 isn't cheap though. If your a touring/giggin musician...

I've read a lot of interviews where Jerry discusses the efforts to tame pedals to a consistent performance state - mostly as an explanation for the OBEL. Not sure what I'm not hearing and if it's my hearing, the lack of knowing what I'm missing, or maybe I'm just not playing the kind of venues that muck with the signal. My pedals, on the floor, seem to work reliably and sound great.

oh and strumminsix, that last link works. Photobucket has been mucking up the site lately... not a fan of the newest beta version.

I thought that, too, until I started using the GCX and I was amazed at the difference it makes. And that was with the OBEL, as well.

Also, there are other controllers out there. Examples:
$25-150 Ground Link w/8 buttons, no programming, turns on any of the 8 loops
Mod'd Behringer FCB
Any MIDI foot controller that allows you to turn on and off cc 80-87

Not 100% sure of the mod. Read about it years ago when I bought one but I returned it instead. You'll have to google it since my knowledge is way outdated!
