Whats In The Box ?

On Thanksgiving my Uncle brought me this box and said
DO YOU WANT A JERRY SPEAKER ?

Ohhhhhh...I can't stand it! It's clear the lid is open! What is it?

He said he never used it but it is dented and dirty ..... I can see thru the port in the back to the backside of the dust cap ...
Hoping to get it up and running ....

Awesome TJ! It should be a plug and play thing. You can't tell if it's bad until you try it. It's prolly the shit!! You can make a 1x12 cab for it or replace one of the commonwealths in your 2x12. I liked that when I did it. Now you can attest to an A B commonwealth / JBL test. Would like to see what you think between the two. Nice gift!!

Tom, looks like a original E-120 to me. You have nothing to loose by trying to use it. The only concern I have from your comments is that you can see the back of the dust cap. There should be a foam disc in place between the vent on the rear of the speaker and the back of the dust cap. It most likely has dry rotted and is now small pieces and dust. It will sometimes cause unwanted noise and if it gets in the voice coil gap can do damage. But as I said you have nothing to loose by trying it. If it does not work or does not sound right let me know. We can recone it.

Got it from my Uncle who said he never used it ... but its dirty and the dust cap is dented a bit
I can see thru the " port " in the back of the speaker to the backside of the dust cap ... is that right ?
You think i should just plug it in and see what happens ?
I know people still play them but dont they have a limited lifespan ?

Dutch... if the foam disc is gone, can the screen be removed and the disc replaced without a re-cone? Is this user serviceable?

How close to the original will it sound with a recone ? If it needs one ?
