Good Afternoon All,
Thought I'd add some more Garcia inspired projects.

This is my lastest Strat project. I was inspired by a Waldo comment about moving the pickups to be as close as possible to the actual position of Garcia's Tiger. Thanks to Waldo for providing specs & dealing with my obsessiveness. I don't own Tiger, and I don't own a Moriarty (yet)...but this is one fun axe. Personally, I think the output increases with the proximity...and the neck pickup sounds significantly different. Nicer to my ear. Tons of practical features. Removable control cover. Battery box on back. Blocked Trem. Brass nut. Refret. Double shielded. Mostly mil-spec pots.

I owe Andrew Olson for this project. This was a project that started with my son & I years ago...long before I was even playing electric. This guitar was never a guitar I loved, and I hated to see a piece of mahogany wasted. I sent it to Andrew to have it Tiger-afied long before I began doing Strats on the side. I'll send him an email when I'm done with this post, and hopefully he'll speak to the difficulties. I never liked the Epi tone. Changed to Seymour Duncans years ago. It had the standard 4 know configuration at the time, and it just didn't work for me. I tried rewiring with push/pull pots, and several other bits of wierdness. We had a minor disconnect on the action, and it's taken me a couple of months to get it set to my liking. Andrew's work is really great. You'd never know that it had a totally different knob configuration. His control work is squeaky clean. As I said...I hope he speaks to some of the challenges.

A beautiful Tiger inlay project from Leo @ Scarlet Fire. Stunning in the sunlight. It'll end up on a prototype hippy-sandwich that my son is building for me with all reclaimed wood. Can't wait to show it off.

A nice pair of 67's. I know the Deluxe looks like it '69 or later. The drip-edge was lost when the D-120 was installed. All parts date to '67 except the Mercury Mag power transformer. NOS tubes. Slightly modified Garcia tone-stack. Brad Sarno built a Deluxe for his wife, and suggested a 0.33 cap in the bass. For a lower volume amp, it sounds absolutely amazing for the Jerry-itis. Over the Winter the chassis will go into a custom head (in the works), and the D120 will go into a 1x cab. Dang JBL will rattle the SH&$ out of those tubes. The Twin needs some love. I'm intending to do a ground up rebuild this winter. The boards are heat warped, and it needs lots of love. It'll get the full Garcia mod package.
Time. Time. Time. I need time.
Peace
M
