Just listening to 9/28/72 on Sirius. No wah in the Playin, but they went directly into Greatest Story which was a wah-fest! Pretty cool- in the solo of Greatest, Jerry morphed it into and out of the St. Stephen melody, complete with wah! After the song ended Bobby says "Well, I think something just blew up." Those were the days....

I heard way back that it was a colorsound with a pack of cigs stuck under the toe - setting it in just the right position....

Article in new Vintage Guitar about the birth of the Vox Wah.

Related- I just got my Fulltone Clyde Delux. After two days of messing around with it I'm happy. I got a "second"- $75 off- I finally found a small painted over scratch on the side of the housing! I'll deal with it.

Or-- Wah AND envelope filter ?! From the VG article, talking about Marley's LP Exodus-

"For the sessions, Marvin plugged his Fender Stratocaster into a Roger Mayer tweeked Cry Baby and Electro Harmonics Dr. Q envelope filter, then into two Fender Twin Reverb amps."
