JD Memorial Thread

JD's service will be this Sunday and I'll bring it with me.


JD, I will forever treasure our friendship and musical brotherhood! I loved your beautiful reckless abandonment by booking us to play an acoustic show even though we had never played together before!! HAHA!!! But it was so much fun and what a success! You had a great appreciation for life and I am glad to have shared parts with you! Only wish there were many more!

Learning about JD's passing affected me like any other friend I could have lost. We are a tight, mature group of musicians and music lovers that coexist in this almost perfect cyber community. It may seem strange how we have come to build such relationships in this electronic world, friendships we sometimes cherish as much as the ones we make day to day, person to person. I did not know him personally, but then again like hundreds more here, I really did.

JD was ALWAYS kind to people here, and happily shared what he has learned in his seemingly short, but important life time. It is obvious that the members on this site valued his opinion and welcomed his direction. He understood the details of music, and helped others to see them unselfishly. He never seemed to feel like he was tired of helping someone that asked a question he has answered a hundred times. He just wanted to help and be kind. So much can be said for that. The greatest part about his involvement in this community is that his words will remain here for others to share from and learn from for years to come.

Hard to believe its been a year. I didn't know JD face to face but we talked gear on Facebook a lot. JD's mom somehow found me on FB and we chat once in a while. Typically I'll post something regarding guitars or my guitar or the band and she'll chime in. I posted something about upgrading the electronics in my strat today and she said something like " oh boy, guitar porn reminds me of JD.

I'm glad I can contribute to JD's memory for his mom.

Well he is forever immortalized by starting the "Sarno Music Solutions!" thread. I hope he is up there jamming with Jer, I really want to believe heaven is a place like that. That's awesome you can ease her sorrows through sharing with her.

Can't believe that it's been a year since JDs passing. I, like many here, never met him in person but thoroughly enjoyed the conversations we had here on this forum. In all of our interactions he was kind, thoughtful, and informative. His passing was a reminder about how we have come to know each other without meeting physically. I consider those whom I've met on this board as much my friends as those I see in person. This is the only forum that I really participate on. I've learned a lot from all of you guys and learned a lot from JD while he was here.

JD left us too soon. There's no way to cut that to make it not so. It's profoundly sad even though we never met. JD had a family, friends, and a partner left behind to cope with his loss. I'm really thankful for Nick for helping to keep JDs memory alive and reminding us of this milestone. I'm also really thankful for having known JD in the peripheral way I did. He was a plus to this community. He, like the rest of us, was lucky to have music in his life. Sure it creates problems with girlfriends and wives as we spend more money than we should, spend too much time getting that part "just exactly perfect," and such. But we are all very blessed to contribute to putting more music in this world whether it be around a campfire, playing to your kids, or on stage. It all adds to bringing joy to a world that really needs it.

So, JD, I lift a glass to you as we mark the one year anniversary of your transition to the next phase in your existence. Be well my friend.
