You nailed it strumm. JK and the other members have Bobby and Phil playing more energetically and creatively than they did for many of the latter days of the Grateful Dead. It is great to see Bobby and Phil enjoying themselves and getting to do what they want to do. A Furthur show is a chance to sing, dance, party, and have a good time (like the old days....).
Personally I like JK, I think he's handled the situation with class. Garcia is gone and he ain't coming back. His legacy lives on through the remaining members playing live and the audience digging it. His legacy also lives on through all of us who passionately play the music of the band.
I said it before and I'll mention it again, be thankful that well into retirement age Bobby and Phil still choose to tour (paying/funding for TRI and Terrapin Crossroads may have a little to do with it too....) and allow us, and newer generations, to experience the music live and rocking.
Anyway this thread is about DSO and I am probably going to see them for the first time in NJ next month.
