Help a Dummy wire a cab.

I have never wired up a cab before.
I want to replace the 2 blown neo-mags with New Eminence Commonwealths.
I'm thinking I can just pop the new speakers in and reconnect the wiring as it was before.
Nothing is ever that easy .... what should I look for / keep in mind ?
Any advice ?

That should work unless whatever blew the original speakers had something to do with bad/faulty wiring and the impedance of the Eminence speakers is the same. I've done it a bunch and never had any issues. It was much easier with the Bag End cabs with the front-loaded speaker clips instead of having to screw them in.

I havent figured out what I did to the Webers.....
I dont think they were wired wrong .... they were built by a exp cab maker from the 'Kind .... must have been my dummy factor

Advice....hmm....from someone who has yet to build their own custom cabinet:

1. Do your research today.
2. Wait until tomorrow to do it (today is Friday the 13th........)

found this ^^^^ but I dont understand why the " speakers in Parallel " has in and outs notated ?
I am wiring from the 1/4 inch jack .... there is no out

Most likely you'd simply reconnect the new speaker the same as the old ones were connected. What you should see (I'm assuming the cab is wired in parallel for 4 ohms) is that the red terminal on one speaker is connected to the red terminal on the other speaker and same with the black. Then the jack is connected to one speaker.

Yeah wish I took a pic of its wiring - It will be up to me to determine if it was wired in series or parallel - 50 -50 odds I get it right

parallel I believe .... yeah man Glenmoore is about 40 miles from me

hey jedi,

just wire one pair of speaker cables to each speaker and combine the positive (positive to positive)and negative(negative to negative) ends together on the amp side. that is parallel wiring, if the speakers are 8 ohms each parallel wiring will make it a 4 ohm output when you combine the speaker cables together at the amp side. sometime the speaker cab will have a single output jack, this may be your case. if so, just do the same and combine the positives and negatives at that single jack. and then use a speaker cable from that jack to the amps jack.

i doubt you will do series but if you need it, use 2 speaker cables and wire the positive of one speaker to the positive of the other speaker and the negative to the negative of the other speaker in the same manner. now wire a second speaker cable to one of those speakers, does not matter which. the speaker you wired with the second speaker cable will actually have 2 sets of wires in each terminal. the other end will go to the amp. with 2 - 8 ohm speaker this will give you a 16 ohm output.
