Yep... Doing the alembic conversion on a twin, minus the pre amp tap. Running it with two power tubes and a single d120 freshly re-coned by edgewound to a K. Also converted the MV to a PPIMV.

Mostly, I just thought it was kind of a cool shot that captured some tonal mojo potential.

That's cool... One of these days I'm going to make myself a deluxe in the Jerry mode... I have most of the parts... just need the time, and the money for the transformers :-)

The mild pec 150d's can be a bit hard to find. I found a surplus site that has a couple hundred left... Cheaper that sprague atoms. PM me if you'd like the link.

Edgewound (Upland Loudspeaker, correct?) is supposed to do great work. I'd love to hear more about the recone along with some pictures.

@ rugger...

I have an original orange D, and original K, an E, a D re-coned as a D by Vintone, and a D re-coned as a K by Edgewound. I'm planning on doing a demo of each speaker playing through the alembic mod twin and making the sound file available on line. I will definitely post the results here. We'll likely do a close cone Shure 58 and a room Shure 57 stereo sampling. Unfortunately with travel and work... it will be a couple weeks before I get that put together. Details to come.
