Why does he have a Digitech multi-effects unit ontop of all that expensive rack mounted stuff?

My bassist friend owns the same model, and I never found a worth while sound on it. Too much latency and too much digital 'slush'. It was the muddiest, murkiest pedal I've ever used as well.

We had a pretty good debate about that a few months ago, but nobody really knew. It's a good mystery, I sure haven't noticed any sounds from him that would have come from that pedal.

I think he has it just because it looks cool, just like his Ritter basses.
I haven't heard any type of sound, like scoob said that would have come from that pedal in any show or recording!

I'm new to this forum but have been reading posts on here for awhile... I was watching the TRI studios Furthur DVD the other day and noticed the pedal set to the "AMPED" preset setting. I'm not sure if this pedal is always on or in bypass some of the time but the setting on it was not changed once throughout that performance. I have been wondering for a long time what he would use this pedal for, maybe it is just being used for tone alteration?

Here is comfirmation that Phil uses a Digitech
