Where exactly did the string ground run from and to? It looks from the photo that there is one strip of copper foil that runs up the cavity wall to at least very near the tailpiece. There's also a black wire there that looks like the ground. Waldo's wiring diagram says it ran along the cavity to the tailpiece and grounded at the buffer ground. Did the wire run up the side of the cavity with the copper and was sandwiched between the tailpiece and the body (like a tele)? Did the other end connect to the buffer ground in the buffer cavity or in the control cavity?
Where did the pickup cavity ground originate? The pickup cavity was only painted with shielding paint, right? Was the wire connected with a screw through the paint?
