Mystery train - Need some help

I've been listening to this song a whole lot lately, I'm trying to use more halfbends like jerry and this song has alot of them, it's just Jerry places them so well in a song it's so hard to mimic that without copying the exact solo, which i don't want to do. Is there certain notes in a scale that he tends to half bend up to?

In a blues like that, it's always safe to bend half step up to the root, the major 3rd, or the dominant 7. These note choices can be heard in the solo you posted.

So over E, using Em pent (with extra stuff added), 12th position

The rightness or wrongness of a note is relative, it is determined by the notes surrounding it. So a "wrong" note is not set in stone until you play another note to define it as "wrong".

As for Phish, I was not aware those guys made mistakes... LOL
