Hey I am new to reaching out to dead heads on the internet since I used to hang with friends but I moved to LA recently and don't know that many people who like the dead here. I saw a few Cubensis shows and I really dig them as well as Spider Gawd. But I am a father of a 2 year old so can't hang out in bars too much. I also tried Second Life but there was way too much drama and it was creepy being online that way. So here I am.
I first heard the Dead in high school and saw my first show in Providence RI in 1986. I tried to see as many shows as I could but only managed 71 that I can definitely remember. I saw a lot of shows in the mid west in Chicago Indiana and Wisconsin, then I moved west and saw a lot of shows in Oakland and Shoreline.
I also saw probably 6 or 7 JGB shows as well.

I am going to poke around but already I am enjoying some of the posts.

My name is Jim and I live in LA also (southern part near Redondo Beach). I play guitar in a couple bands (Rum Runners and Skull and Roses) We don't play as often as Cubensis but I'll try to let you know when we are playing.

We have a daytime (3-6 pm) gig coming up at the Redondo Beach pier on October 22nd. Maybe you can make it? I know what it's like to have small children. Mine are 10 and 12 now and don't need my attention as much.

Gotta love those "rediscover San Pedro" commercials they have on TV...

You are in the "neighborhood" (i.e. the South Bay). Do you play guitar, drums or keys?

Definitely come see the Rum Runners at Kegs on the Redondo Beach boardwalk (right next to the pier) on the 22nd. We play from 3-6 pm. Maybe even take the baby out for a stroll? Hopefully the weather will be nice.

Are you on Facebook? If so, I could easily let you know when my bands are playing. I don't always post the gigs here since not too many local people are on this board.
