Changing a Super 2 into a single coil - A pictoral "How to"

Hey all!
So...ive been building quite a few guitars with the Super 2 in the middle "hardwired" coil split, with a buffer, for "that sound". Now we all know that there are ALLOT of variables that go into getting "that sound", but if your chasing it, this is a place to start. Im sure im not the first to do this, but heres a pictoral of how I do it. (I hope 28 pics load ok, well see)

AND....for those folks wanting to alter their Strat, heres an easy way to do it. It sounds great to me!

Awesome scott!! Very informative. I think I am going to do this with a strat I have. Big thanks!!!! As for Dimarzzio doing it, it probably costs way more than just splitting the humbucker and getting two single coils.... Sweet post man!!

Right on! Yeah plus its fun. Im sure Dimarzio will make you an under wound SDS-1, but it won't have the brass plate, which is part of the "Super 2". Im working on posting my Brass plate linework Document, so anyone can print it and use it to make there bottom plate.

Do the magnets need to be oriented in any particular way?

Right on! Its pretty simple and it really does sound good. Im working on getting some A/B sound clips together, ill post when they are ready.
The magnets do need to be oriented right, basically so there is "pull" on the pole pieces. This does bring up the point of matching it with two other single coils, RWRP etc. You'll need to experiment a little to get it to work with your setup.
