Good stuff! I hadn't seen Modulus #1 - I like the Wolf-styled body! and didn't know the order of the others. And of course I never knew that in 1983 he didn't wear glasses and played lefty.

Unreal, I never Knew he played lefty for a while either. Sweet bass. I have to hear some of those shows to see how ambidextrous he is. "Must have been the doses", ha!! and the booze....when you are too drunk to see you don' t need your glasses!

Interesting! How much do you know about it and did he ever play it?

My understanding was that his regular Quantum is also a custom - a regular Q6 in every way except 34" instead of 35" scale. IIRC they built 4 of them, Phil got two, Mike Gordon got 1, and I forget what happened to the 4th. And the official Modulus policy on their site was "we're never doing this again so don't ask!"

i also believe that phil's custom modulus's had wider bodies then stock modulus basses?

yes Waldo they did. I always look for the spider on the headstock when looking at custom builds. As opposed to the traditional "X" This sets them apart somehow but not sure other than to mark its a special.

I've never seen him play lefty, however, just like Oteil Burbridge, he's left handed and plays righty. It's interesting that both of them are very melodically developed. When I put this together I thought about stringing up a bass left handed and trying it out.
