Bobby acoustic solo

Caught the show in Philly tonight - awesome time. Bobby had a foot switch hooked up so it would trigger a bass drum and he was keeping the beat by tapping while playing acoustic. Just thought that is a really cool idea for playing solo and helping to keep a driving beat going. Anyone have any suggestions on how to set something like this up?

I don't know what he is using currently - at TRI he was just using a mic'd rack case cover and tapping his foot. Do a google search for "acoustic stomp box" and you will see a bunch of these.

If he has moved to true bass drum trigger he would likely be using either a. drum machine with a footsiwtch or b. midi triggered sample.

When I saw Bobby's acoustic show in Pittsfield MA, he was stomping his foot on the lid to a road case. Sitting roughly, maybe 5 feet away, against the stage was a mic that picked up the sound and bassiness of his foot tapping the case. Ingenious way to add your own "kick drum" IMHO!
