MXR Distortion + Reissue M-104 ... acceptable for Jerry use?

Postby lunasparks » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:14 pm

Any one with experience have opinions on the M-104 version of the MXR Distortion + from Dunlop? My reading seems to indicate it has the LM741 opamp as well as germanium just like the original script version, which sounds like a good thing, right?

I'm looking for a Jerry-like distortion I can carry to practice that won't cost me an arm & a leg (would be the only pedal I'll tote along with my tuner). Currently using Line 6 M13 at home and gigs but it's too hard to carry around all the time. But also don't want to waste money if the M-104 box can't get usable Jerry tone.

As always, any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

yes it does have the 741 and germanium, but i believe the circuit is different. that said, it was good enough for John K.

Most basic distortion pedals are acceptable.
