I have found my Commonwealth's to be very similar, but the bass and mid response is much higher or maybe "tighter and pronounced?" than the original E-120 I have. The E120 seems brighter, but infinitely not better. The other thing about that comparison is the E120 is almost 30 years older while the commonwealth has just begun to break in... I could only tell the difference with fresh cones with both speakers, but as they are now they're hair splitting similar. After playing each cab and recording the overall sound I find the extra mids or low end to be a welcome addition in the overall mix.
What are the subtle differences you find with the Beyma's v's the E120s? If you find a similar comparison as I did I may feel better to write off that difference as being "newer" cones. Yours sound very good relative to recordings I have made myself with our Zoom.
