Beyma Liberty tone in band mix

I recently put my K's in my Twin and my Beyma's in my Cab.

This is a recording of my Twin re-issue pushing the Beyma's.

I thought that sounded real good. Strong band. Nice solo'ing. Very fluent. I like your clean Jerry tone. I would say those speakers can capture the characteristc Jerry tone.

We have only played 3 gigs so far spread out in about 3-4 months but we have fun!

I have to agree with the above, sounds great... I have found my Commonwealth's to be very similar, but the bass and mid response is much higher or maybe "tighter and pronounced?" than the original E-120 I have. The E120 seems brighter, but infinitely not better. The other thing about that comparison is the E120 is almost 30 years older while the commonwealth has just begun to break in... I could only tell the difference with fresh cones with both speakers, but as they are now they're hair splitting similar. After playing each cab and recording the overall sound I find the extra mids or low end to be a welcome addition in the overall mix.

What are the subtle differences you find with the Beyma's v's the E120s? If you find a similar comparison as I did I may feel better to write off that difference as being "newer" cones. Yours sound very good relative to recordings I have made myself with our Zoom.

All great questions... I honestly don't think I know the answer. I have gone from my K's to my E's to my Beyma's a few times and love all of them.

I think the Beyma's once broken in, sound alot like an E 120 with maybe a tad bit more of a Strat or fat tone to them. They sound real good at lower volume too. I have a few recordings but only in a live setting in different clubs.

E 120's in a smaller room not mic'd. I was filling the room with higher volume on my Twin.

As you can see they are VERY similar. My K's sound awesome too!
