Took my new Travis Bean for a spin

Took my new Travis Bean for a spin

Postby tapestry » Tue May 16, 2017 9:15 am

I was able to give my new Travis Bean a spin at a sold out show in Cohoes NY. We did a 76 Jerry Band show and the bean was fun to play. Take a listen and a look if ya like. I think the bean tone is very unique.

Sounds very nice. Nice playing. I would personally add a touch of grit with an Earth Drive. That's all my ears are telling me. My Mom grew up in Cohoes. I didn't know they had a venue like this out there? Cool.
All's well that sounds well.

Thanks! Yes, def on the dirt/grit. I had been using a tube screamer for dirt/grit, but recently swapped it out for a boss od-1, Im planning on adding the tube screamer back in. Ive tried the earth drive ad I'm not into the sound it provides.

Nice tone and playing.

Recently got a '95 LP Special double cut with P90s to scratch that itch.

Similar shape and tone. Needs fret job, thinking of adding a middle P90 and the buffer/Obel.

Waldo...
I see 4 toggle switches so my guess is that Mik's done his mods. Can't wait to do my own! Just waiting to hear if I can have TB designs do the stock style battery box like on Mr. Mattson's guitar.

Hey Mik,
Did you have Travis Bean Designs add a battery cavity, or did you just have a tech drop in a battery box (Gotoh style)?

I'm having a hard time dropping a router into the back of this guitar. Scared shitless...even though I've done a bunch of others.

Peace
M

Travis Bean added the battery box in the back. - But its not wired correctly with the buffer and the switch. I need to change it if I want to turn the OBEL on/off. Right now the switch apparently turns off the buffer, but not the OBEL?!

Texted Kevin earlier in the week. I hate the idea of putting the Bean back in a box...but I suppose it's the right thing to do.

Thanks Mik

Agreed- I picked one up too and it is tonally similar to the Bean.
