Who to send my SG to for Jerryfication?

Brian and Jon: OK, I'll jump in- I'm an environmental professional too! 30 years with industry assuring compliance with environmental regs. And- my son-in-law went to UW for his masters in Biology. He and my daughter did field work in the Medicine Bows west of Laramie. And to bring it all back home- I'm building a Jerrified SG as we speak. Small world.

I just left a gig at a weatherization/green energy training center helping to build a standardized curriculum for the DOE. Mostly working towards improving the efficiency of low-income housing. I learned a lot about building science. Fun work but a university gig beckoned . . .

I know it's uncool as a musician to even mention your day job but as I'm an environmental professional I gravitated to the page, on your site, about your house. Impressive and beautiful!

I didn't know about the uncool day-job taboo "o) thanks, it's been quite an experiment. On the whole, amazingly successful... it's really shown that if it can be done here, it can be done anywhere!

I've been here most of my life, spent alot of time in the mountains... and I'm looking forward to working up the mutated SG, it'll be my first, and I always wanted one so it'll be interesting to hear "o)

I found that substantially more insulation is the cheapest and best start... however, retro-fitting is a bitch... We've got 2 feet of fiberglass in the roof, R75, or close to it... that's really what makes this design functional :-)

First pics back. Nothing too major, just a drawing of the layout of the knobs and pickup selector.

Totally off original post, so forgive me...but with all the professional energy folks I was wondering what the thoughts are in the industry re: the rare-earth mine I heard was being constructed in California. My understanding is 99% of the rare earth materials needed for green energy come from China at the moment, and that the Chinese sites are predictably very dirty. Kinda scary to have the Chinese totally control the supply too; I imagine that would almost definitely need to change for national security reasons as the USA converts more and more. Is the professional com'ty generally supportive of the California site or exploring resources in North America etc? Are there concerns particular to the California site (and not the type of mines in general?

Definitely no going back now! Man I hate cutting big holes in a guitar like that... but in this case it was necessary, as the body/cavity is so shallow.

Does that give you enough depth for a regular 5-way?

I use S type Megaswitches from Stewmac, and that leaves about 1/16" to spare... I just measured an old style, and it looks like it ought to fit too, although the top lugs may need to be bent to 90 deg.
