Fender super champ XD upgrade

Is anyone here using a Fender Super Champ XD ... maybe as a practice/home amp. I like the blackface setting on it but have heard it can be modified to give a bit more power and sound quality. Also I am looking to rehouse the amp in a 12" cab and play around with speaker choices. Anyone got any advice/experience with this kind of thing.
