DIY Mutron Octave Divider Clone released

finished mine yesterday and had a chance to run it side by side with an original mutton octave divider today. in a blind test I am pretty certain no one would be able to hear a difference! byoc knocked this one out of the ballpark!

If you have longed for a muoctdiv this is THE choice!

I think he used octave on most versions of Stranger.

Sometimes on the end jam of Looks Like Rain.
This show has a good example. He uses it from 6:18 to the end.

Sometimes on the big end theme of Terrapin. In the show below he starts using the octave in Terrapin at 9:17, turning it off at about 9:50 in time for the chord part (Octave pedals only like one note at once).

I'm sure he used it sparingly in some Playin' In The Band jams but can't think of any examples right now.

I think in '77 he used it in NFA jams - I need to dig one up. Possibly Travis Bean w/ Mutron III & Octave Divider or maybe just with the Octave Divider?

Is Jerry using the Octave Divider in this NFA starting at 3:52? I've heard many '77 NFA's with this tone. If so, it is just the OD or is it in conjunction with another effect?

exactly, that is the Mutron Octave Divider.

that sounds like just the Mu OctDiv with the ringer ON with the mix just slightly on the guitar side vs the effect side as you can still hear a good chunk of the base guitar tone. towards the end of the jam you can hear him roll the guitars tone control all the way to the extreme bass side also.

this setting sounds great with the boss ds1 or series 2000 mxr dist+ in front of it as well.

I really like that sound. It screams 1977. Not sure if it was only a spring tour sound, but that Travis Bean /Octave Divider combo is so recognizable to me. Very short lived...
