Trippiest Movies

When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Postby Shaggy » Thu Mar 15, 2007 11:22 am

Two Lane Backdrop - (James Taylor and Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys) driving across country, not saying very much to each other!)
Alice In Acidland
Girl On A Motorcycle - (awful movie)
The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm - (1962 version)
Human Highway - (Directed by and starring Neil Young)

Take a trip (no pun intended) into the world of arthouse and cult movies and you'll find a truckload. Like those early 70's Warhol and Paul Morrissey films such as Trash and Lonesome Cowboys.

Wow, no mention as yet, of four very trippy 60's films:

The Trip starring Peter Fonda

two early very silly Peter Sellers vehicles,

I Love You, Alice B. Toklas
and
The Party

and of course
Petulia starring George C. Scott and featuring a performance and cameo scenes by the entire Grateful Dead circa 1967!!

Nothing too flash to be honest, it has a few good moments. Very lingering and dreamy. It was a total flop which sent Fonda backwards into a mid 70's world of dire B picture trash.

I added it.

Just saw "The Five Senses" I wouldn't call it trippy but it is very good and tells a story of 5 people with an undertone of each story representing a sense. A baker, maseuse, voyeur, a guy searching for the scent of love, and a guy losing his hearing. Probably a good movie in any state of mind.

As long as your adding, add Zacariah (sp?) The Electric Cowboy. It's pretty freaky with Country Joe and the James Gang as outlaws.

You know I'd be tempted to add Pat Garrett and Billy the Kidd to the list. The Peckinpah version from 73 with Bob Dylan.
