I didn't realise that CBGB is actually an acronym. Weird.

I used to go to CBGB's from time to time. The place was a goddam dive, dirty as hell, but incredible atmosphere. I saw Johnny Thunder barely make it through a set. The place was pretty wild. The Talking Heads played their first gig, opening for the Ramones! Television started their and anyone into jam music should check out their Marquee Moon album. You can hear the influence they had on the Talking Heads all over it. And Patti Smith was a huge Deadhead, even doing Dead covers after Jerry died. She even did Dark Star at the Fillmore after proclaiming the first week in August "Jerry Garcia Week".
