Music
XXXEurope '72: The Complete RecordingsXXX
$450.00

This is now available for pre-order through April 1, 2011.

This September, Dead.net will release a limited-edition, individually-numbered, Europe '72: The Complete Recordings boxed set which will feature more than 60 discs and over 70 hours of music - every single note recorded on the legendary 22-show Europe '72 tour. Each disc will be mixed by Jeffery Norman, primary mixer of Dead archival multi-track material, and mastered to HDCD specs by two-time Grammy-winning engineer David Glasser. While many of the recordings heard on Europe ’72 were sweetened in the studio after the tour, those tracks will be included in this collection without overdubs, where possible.

Every show will include its own liner notes by top Dead scholars (including David Gans, Steve Silberman, Blair Jackson and Nicholas Meriwether) and concert-goers, as well as many never-before-seen photos. This magnificent, unprecedented collection will also feature memorabilia and ephemera from the tour, and a coffee table-worthy book with a comprehensive tour essay by Blair Jackson and hundreds of never-before-seen photos - all housed in a groovy replica steamer trunk.

As a special bonus, the first 3,000 boxed sets issued will be personalized editions. This unprecedented release will be limited to orders placed, with a maximum of 7,200 boxes produced.

Additionally, to reward those loyal fans who have to wait until September to receive the final box set, Dead.net will offer several exclusive goodies over the coming months.

I have the whole tour except for the 5/7 show. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I posted a thread on the topic of this show a while ago. Bits and pieces of it have been put out there on the Taper's section and other formats but from what I can gather is there is no circulating board of the whole show. If there is I want it. I suspect all the Euro '72 shows have already been yanked off the Archive which sucks dick but what are ya gonna do?

I can only hop they do something similar to what they did on the "Beyond Description " box set and maybe release individual shows at some point. I just can't afford this right now which is sad because I've been wanting them to do something like this release for many years now.

I just acquired the Clugston source of 5/7. The first set and first 4 songs of the 2nd set are aud. The rest (the meat) of the show is source MSR -> DAT, OO is patched with Betty Board. It is excellent sounding. It is being seeded at etree right now.

The set is out of my price range too. Fortunately I have pretty good versions.

David Lemieux is hinting that fall '73 and spring '90 tours could be next.

Damn....Just when I thought I couldn't possibly go into more debt this comes along!

I'll probably be in for this one...

Also, alot of this stuff is on Archive.org, it is streaming only, but if you have the time to do so there are still ways to record it.

this is my favorite show up there.

While the $ 400.00 price tag will too much for many of us at least all the shows will be released in remixed pristine shape - and will find its way into our collection.
Although .... I love how many of my E 72 shows sound - sound board yes - but I just love the mix ....

I am a little torn on something with this. I have no objection to the price or what comes with the set as it all sounds really cool. My concern is why are they limiting the amount of sets besides to just make the money and eventually jack the price way up. It seems against the whole spirit of the music to limit it to a few thousand sets. It still pisses me off that they take stuff off archive once it is released there were quite a few Auds that I really liked that are no longer available.

Even though I have many of the shows downloaded some are of low quality and a nice soundboard would be great. I guess maybe I am just more bummed about now making the decision to save for the set or upgrade my amp and gear and then if I get the money saved it may not be available. Such is life

Torrents will probably be everywhere for this, so no need to worry about archive.org quite yet (although I am kind of worried).

My experience with '72 shows is that the first set always seems very much the same, excluding the Playin' that usually lasts about 17 minutes and Bird Song for about 10. As tigerstrat said, "that's a helluva lot of versions of "Mr. Charlie"". So I would only be getting it with the intention of listening to the second sets (most deadheads probably agree with me on that).
