Gotta sell some stuff to pay for a Bean

Postby jonarobb » Wed Nov 19, 2008 8:57 am

I dread doing this but I have to unload a bunch of gear to pay for a Travis Bean I found. The following items are up for grabs and need to be paid for by Friday. I have to pay for the guitar Friday afternoon.

All items on this list have been maintained and or/built and modified by me as noted

All items have been battle tested by me and are stage and/or studio ready

All items are in perfect working condition

I'm ever so flexible on some of this. If you want to take a few things I'll totally work with you. I took an average of Ebay, G-Base and The Vintage Buyers Guide. Then knocked everything down slightly for the Rukind'ers. I think the prices are fair but you can tell me otherwise.

Plenty of pictures available upon request

Mid-70's Musitronics Mutron III w/Original Power Supply
This is one of my 2 Mu's and it has been recapped by me. Knobs and feet not original. Works like a charm.
Original circuit.
SOLD

1978 MXR Phase 100 (Block Logo)
All original. No Mods.
$150.00

73'/80' MXR Distortion+
This is a 1980 Block Logo case with 1973 Bud Box guts. A Bud Box MXR is the first generation models. They are highly coveted and when you hear them you know why.
No Mods on the circuit.
$200.00

1975 Fender Twin Reverb Custom Head
This is a head completely customized and modified by me. Has the full Alembicization. Preamp taps on both channels. The works. Guts are cream of the crop. Choice resistor and cap placement abound. Can be used as a stand alone head or preamp'd out to a power amp. No power tubes included. All preamp tubes are NOS G.E.'s.
SOLD

1978 Kramer DMZ 3000 Electric Guitar
Made in Neptune, NJ. Completely customized by me. Onboard Alembic Stratoblaster Preamp. Fender American Standard Single Coil Pickups. Master Tone and Master Volume. Complete Refret by the original designer and builder of these guitars, Phil Petillo. This is probably the hardest thing to get rid of because it just plays so well but I have another.
$750.00 w/OHSC

JBL K120-8 Musical Instrument Speaker
Original cone. Has very slight voice coil rub. I mean slight! Works fine but you should recone it soon if you want to gig with it.
$100

Altec 417-8H Musical Instrument Speaker
Beautiful. Original cones. I have 2 of these.
SOLD

JBL E120-8 Musical Instrument Speaker
Early first generation baskets. I have 2 of these that were just reconed by Ted Weber. He does all my recones for years now. These are unused since getting them back.
$175.00/ea or $300.00/pr.

Well that's it for now gents.... I found an early Travis Bean TB-1000 Standard that I've wanted for along time. It's either rob a bank or sell some gear.

I know, I know. Trust me. But I have another DMZ 3000(in pieces), a DMZ 2000(loaner guitar for clients) and a 350G(My first guitar that I've had for 24 years now). I think I'm covered with Kramers.

Is it the guitar ( and the MXR Phase ? ) you are playing in the vid with the Deadstein guys ?
I remember asking you about it - I thought it was a Travis Bean.
I search Ebay and never see the guitars.
Are they Kramers that someone mods ?
Are they stock Kramers ?
Pretty cool for sure.

Nice one! Be sure and remove the neck (or is it the body?) and see if anything is written on the metal beneath.

Wasn't too bad price-wise. The economy is forcing a lot of killer guitars onto the market. I paid $2500 for this one.

I thought so too. This particular one was pitched to me as having an "issue" hence the low price. The pickups are not original TB pickups. It has custom wound TB1000 clones from Kevin at Electrical Guitar Company. He has a stellar rep in the Bean community for his original designs as well as his custom replacement pickups. If it was any other "issue" I would've passed on it

These have been hovering in the $3500-$4000 range from what research I did.

I've been playing it all day. I'm pretty blown away by it needless to say. I have another 1000 standard on loan from a friend of mine that I've been using for a few weeks. After doing a gig with that one last week I had to have one of my own....
