Is it just me or is the solo for this song very easy?

For me its the easiest song to do the Jerry part on.

What do you think?

My easy jam for Jerry changes depending on me really. It's just that YOU understand it right now. For me one of the easier ones I have been doing is Mama Tried. For the harder spacier stuff Ive been workin on Music Never Stopped alot. Really trying to nail that out-there part before the E jam at the end. But the E jam at the end is quite simple for me. Post some clips and lets hear it@!

Looks like it is straight Eminor pentatonic. My problem is that I am so major scale oriented, I really haven't gotten those great minor blues licks down.

This is the "A" Major Pentatonic scale right?

Code: Select all
E|-----------------------------------5--7--8--------
B|--------------------------5--7--8-----------------
G|--------------------5--7--------------------------
D|--------------5--7--------------------------------
A|--------5--7--------------------------------------
E|--5--8--------------------------------------------

This is the "A" Blues scale right?

Code: Select all
E|---------------------------------------8--10--
B|--------------------------------8--10---------
G|-----------------------5--7--9----------------
D|-----------------5--7-------------------------
A|--------3--5--7-------------------------------
E|--3--5----------------------------------------

But what's a minor scale?

That second one is not an A blues scale, its an A minor pentatonic. A blues in 5th position is:

E|--------------------------------------5--8--
B|--------------------------------5--8--------
G|-----------------------5--7--8--------------
D|-----------------5--7-----------------------
A|--------5--6--7-----------------------------
E|--5--8--------------------------------------

A minor scale in 5th position:

E|--------------------------------------------5--7--8--
B|-----------------------------------5--6--8-----------
G|-----------------------------5--7--------------------
D|--------------------5--7--9--------------------------
A|-----------5--7--8-----------------------------------
E|--5--7--8--------------------------------------------

The solo to Ramble on Rose is also very easy. The one on DP20 is just a play on the melody one octave up with a few walks put in there. Even as newbie and sloppy as I am, I figured it out by ear in an evening and can play it such that it sounds reasonable. That whole song is probably one of the easiest GD songs out there, which is why I picked that to play with my kids who are 9 and 11. We get it going sometimes, and my daughter is a good singer.
Mama Mama many worlds I've come since I first left home.

overall jerry solo sounds comes very natural to me. blues, major or mixo...doesnt really matter which scale, i just have a very jerry sound. Whether i am playing a dead song or not overall everyone always tells me it sounds like the grateful dead. IO guess that just comes from bobby, jerry and phil being my biggest influences. Its almost out of my control...sometimes i want to sound different but i cant.

Actually I'd have to say I dont find this to be one of the easier dead songs. But for the lyrics its definitely a good little sing song for the kids.
