Postby summerstevaye » Sat Sep 08, 2007 9:11 am

So I'm listening to a JGB show 11/4/81 and second set Jerry opens up with Road Runner, it hits me I heard Phish open with this song too, but I'm trying to nail down some chords so i can start playing it myself, anyone have any suggestions. I've looked around but nothign on google. Song origianlly by Junior Walker.

Thanks you guys

I saw the Dead do this tune in 86. I like Bob's version.

Huh? When? I've never even heard of Phish covering this one, which would be very rad. Do you mean their original tune, "Runaway Jim"?

Kerl, you got it, except I believe that on the chorus the E chord is preceded by A.

It's just one of my favorite JGB recordings (can't remember if it's Rolfe or Glassberg or if I have one from each), I wasn't in attendance (about 3 years before my time)... if you were, I am eternally envious! Abolutely killer Love In The Afternoon and Don't Let Go as well!

Bump... man, there's way more to this tune than I expected if you get all the hits right.

I know this is ancient history... but Phish did open a Mansfield show with a tune called Roadrunner by the Modern Lovers. Very cool tune, and I think it was the first time I saw them in a shed or any shed show for that matter so it made an impression on me.
