Using my new Carvin tube stereo 100 power amp (2xEL34s per channel). Using the SMS Classic into only one channel at 50W into the 2xJBL E120s. It gets a nice mild breakup and still retains a tone I like.

Sounds really nice. Every time I hear the SMS Classic -- Brad was kind enough to send it to me to audition two years ago -- I am always struck by how to my ears it just perfectly knocks Jerry's 76-78 Garcia tone, right down to the sound of the reverb. When I first got into playing guitar and trading Dead tapes in high school, we scored some very low generation soundboard recordings off the fall 1977 tour -- Houston 10-14-77 and Binghamton 11-6-77 among them, not to mention, of course, Cornell 5-8-77 -- and that's the tone I remember so clearly. It's just awesome.
