Long Black Veil
(traditional)

D
Ten years ago on a cold dark night
..........A.........................G..........D
There was someone killed 'neath the town hall light
D
Few there at the scene, but they all agree
.........A.......................G........D
That the slayer who ran looked a lot like me

The judge said "Son, what is your alibi
You were somewhere else you won't have to die"
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
I have been in the arms of my best friends wife

(Chorus)
G...............D.....G...............D
She walks these hills in a long black veil
G.........D.....G....................D
Visits my grave when the night winds wail
D.............G.......D
Nobody knows, nobody sees,
G......D.....A...D
Nobody knows but me

The gallows were close, and eternity near
She stood in the crowd, and shed not a tear
Sometimes at night, when the cold wind blow
In a long black veil, she cries o'er my bones

(Chorus)

Nobody knows but me x2

Something about this song but I couldn't place it so I did some searching, then oh yeah Johnny Cash.

Thanks for helping me revisit.
