Guitarist wants to start mandolin or fiddle

Just wondering how hard it is to learn these respective instruments when you already can play guitar decently well. Obviously theory applies, but I'm interested in learning the fretboard and finger movements and how guitar knowledge would speed up the process. Anyone go through this process or have any insight about it? Thanks

different tuning/chord and scale shapes and patterns/ different left and right hand techiniques.different playing ideas/style..start with mando then fiddle you will have your left hand intonation down to apply it to the fretless fiddle
